My subject, S, is a senior at a Northeast university with a unique background in preaching. S has been preaching to his congregation since a young age, not only making him a profound public speaker but also reflecting his passion for the Church and how it’s shaped his life. The two audio files I’ve included in the video come from one speech in remembrance of Julian Bond, and the other from our high school graduation, where both closely resemble his perception of the/his American Dream. I edited this video as a mini-doc/trailer and chose to not use video/audio from our interview because I wanted to present S by showing what he’s known for (preaching and taking on leadership positions) by using videos/pictures of his prior work and accomplishments. Yet at the same time, the content I chose to use also closely reflects his thoughts on how being a Christian Black male has impacted his Dream.
